This workshop takes place every first Wednesday of the month. Sign up for one: February 1st March 1st April 5th May 3rd. Traveling can provide useful and enriching experiences. However, when we travel to a new place, there are often times things we didn't think of prior to traveling. For example: Can I use my debit/credit card while abroad? What fees are there if I use my card abroad? What should I be careful of if using my card abroad? What are the laws about same-sex relationships where I am going? What is the drinking age and what is it like to go to a club, dive bar, "spots," or other places that serve alcohol? What is the infrastructure like for water, plumbing, internet, electricity, and transportation - who pays for those things and do I have to pay for those things? Will I get homesick? What does it look like to be homesick and what do I do? In this live workshop, we will work collectively to unpack certain life skills that will make your life easier while you travel. We will explore how to check and double-check that we are doing no harm to others while we travel. We will use an intersectional lens and self-reflexivity to unpack these topics. This 90-minute workshop consists of: 40 minutes presentation 20 minutes workshop practice (2 skills for 10minutes each) 10 minutes discussion 20 minutes question & answer. _____________ 30 minutes (optional) story-sharing and collective knowledge building. You will leave the workshop with: 1. An understanding of what life skills and knowledge are key to less stress while traveling. 2. An applied understanding of #adulting 3.
